Payments and settlement

Global payment infrastructure

The BOX vision extends beyond trading to the movement of value between businesses, counterparties and settlement accounts. The proposed payment infrastructure is intended to connect an instruction with its authorization, funding status and final record.

Planned platform. Launch and services remain subject to applicable approvals.

Cross-border business payments

An overseas payment is more than a transfer instruction. A business needs to identify the beneficiary, associate the payment with its commercial purpose, understand any conversion and confirm the settlement outcome.

The BOX concept brings these requirements into one operational view. Supported currencies, corridors, institutions, networks and payment terms remain to be confirmed. No payment route or banking partnership is offered through this website.

Four payment workflows under consideration

Supplier payments
Connect the payment instruction to an invoice or business obligation, identify the intended beneficiary and preserve a reference that finance teams can reconcile.
Currency conversion
Review the supported currency pair, conversion terms and required funding before authorizing a payment in the counterparty's required currency.
Treasury movements
Coordinate value movement between eligible business accounts with explicit approval responsibilities. Account access alone should not authorize a transfer.
Reconciliation
Relate the instruction, conversion details and settlement outcome, including unresolved exceptions, to the original business obligation.

What a payment record should explain

The intended workflow distinguishes a request from an authorized instruction and a completed outcome. Depending on the eventual payment arrangement, a useful record should identify:

  • The business purpose, counterparty and reference.
  • The funding asset or currency and any conversion involved.
  • The person or role responsible for approval.
  • The current status and any outstanding conditions.
  • The settlement reference needed to reconcile the result.

Availability, timing, fees and finality depend on the confirmed route and external networks involved. The project does not promise instant settlement, universal geographic reach or a specific conversion rate.

Payments and exchange settlement are not the same

Exchange settlement concerns obligations arising from a trade. A business payment concerns a separate transfer purpose, such as paying a supplier or moving treasury funds. They may share infrastructure, but they require their own rules, permissions and records.

Prepare a payment-infrastructure inquiry

Businesses and payment firms can describe their intended currencies, jurisdictions, counterparties and reconciliation needs. Use indicative requirements rather than account numbers or sensitive transaction records. Do not send identity documents, private keys or payment credentials.

A discussion is exploratory. It does not establish a payment account, confirm access to a corridor or authorize a transfer. Learn more about the partners and project status on About BOX.
